Hello there,

I am playing a game of Eu4 and i got a question about how to stop the religions war in the empire. The year is 1523, and i am the Emperor Austria.

I watch a few you tube tutorials how to do this. and what i understand is that there are several ways.

When the first center of reformation appeared i finished the war that i was fighting against the ottomans, this took me a few years,. Right after i declared a no CB war on the owner of this single province where a religious center had spawned. The war was won pretty fast, but the option to force religion was not available here.

When i took a good look at the country i saw that the religion was still catholic. Maybe i declared the war to soon here? and i have to wait for the country to flip religion first? think that is a bit strange because the center already turned several other lands in this short time. and if i had to wait longer this good get out of control pretty fast.

So i then went for option 2, and that was to core the province for my self so that i can converted this back to catholic with a missionary. What i understand from the tutorial is that centers of reformation should not have the 100 % zeal modifier like the other province that get converted by this centers of reformation. They should only get the -5 % religious center modifier.

But to my surprise my religious center got both modifiers.

The religious center of -5% and the religious zeal of -100% so there is no way to converted this any time soon. And waiting 30 years or so is not an option.

Can anybody explain to me if i am doing something wrong here?

Tnx for the help guys!

That's strange... anyway you can you make it the capital of another country? (eg munster) If so you can force them to convert and their capital will become catholic regardless of the modifiers.

I can only return this province back to Munster. I tried this, and he made this his capital again, but the problem is that he is stil catholic. so when i attack him i think that i still dont have the option to force religion.
