Here's a seemingly hilarious situation I found myself in. I'm a fanatic spiritualist faction, I skipped robotics because i didn't want to deal with the happines penalty that goes with it.

However I jumped on sentient ai because +10% research speed is bonkers... Oh how young and naive at was.

Now every 10 year, the fallen empire declare war on me, because I can't outlaw Robots.

Could we make sentient AI part of the "outlaw robotics" and allow access to that policy once sentient ai is researched?

Thats... huh. Wow. I never realized you could research sentient AI without actually needing to research the rest of the robot branch. But it appears you only need the whole branch for Synthetics - not for AI.

So basically what happened is that Sentient AI pissed them off, but because you don't have robotics, you can't choose the Outlawed policy for robots... so they will never stop attacking?

Thats pretty harsh. Sounds like you need to get an industry type scientist ASAP. Though you're kinda boned as spiritualist anyway - they get a pretty harsh modifier for robots to even come up, though having an industry guy will help a lot. http://www.stellariswiki.com/Technology#Robotic_Workers

Another option would be for sentiant AI to also enable the robotic rights laws.

Or, make Droid research a requirement for Sentient AI? (going to go mod this in myself)

I agree OP, your situation does seem hilarious. I suggest that the robot policy is unlocked by having either Administrative AI or Robotic Workers researched. This because Fallen Empire Senpai starts getting mad at Administrative AI just as soon as Robotic Workers, and because it makes flavorable sense that an empire can change a policy if other empires are getting mad about it. Seriously, if your empire doesn't know how to build robots anyway, then it costs your empire very little to cave to diplomatic pressure, and declare that you're not going to build robots. I also suggest that the most central AI-related techs (Administrative AI, Self-Aware Logic, Sentient AI, Robotic Workers, Droids, and Synthetics) have their tech weight somewhat reduced if robots are outlawed. This because there's flavorably less incentive to develop technology that won't see full use.
