Wow.

I played the HoI3 demo, and thought it sucked. Last week I had a chance to try out the full HoI3 1.3, and thought it sucked.

So I decided to fire up DDA (with DAIM) one last time before AoD, and wow... What a game I have on my hands. Playing as the Soviet Union, I did the usual stuff: building 4x25 IC's, and turning down the great purge to give myself a challenge (basically no way of building up until 6 months before the nazis invade). On Sep 3 1939 I noticed I had a 1% chance of couping Germany, so I gave it a shot - and suddenly had a DDR halfway through poland, and at war with the allies. When they asked to join the comintern a few weeks later, I could ofcourse not turn down my socialist brothers - so now it's Comintern vs the Allies! And it's hard. My tech sucks, most troups are infantry '36 (I managed to get all tank and mot. divisions surrounded and destroyed outside berlin), I gave all cavalry and mountain infantry divisions to China (they still got rolled over by Japan), and I think DDR lost quite a few troups and/or got dissent because of the coup. It's now spring 1940, France has advanced to Prussia and I'm fighting hard to save the DDR. Fun, fun, fun!

Of course, a communist coup in September 1939 is not really plausable, but at least it's not pure fantasy as in Hoi3 where Finland tries to conquer the pacific.

Really, really looking forward to AoD.

Sounds like a very fun game. The historical side: considering the fact that a lot of european leaders (UK and right side in france) all the way up to barbarossa more or less regarded Sovjet with equal or more reluctance than the Nazi's its not that far out. Not until the german attack on Sovjet thye took the full step of actively supporting and cooperating with Stalin (i don't blame them entirely) instead of regarding him as a potential enemy). Off course the Commi's in Germany were more or less passivated but they were still there in large fractions. So i thk its an interesting variant u got there - hehe.
Gamewise i follow the debat going on with HOI3 and i stick to HOI2 for some time more. Great game.

A very interesting game. I never thought you cuold coup Germany as SU . Don't worry too much about your INF tech. Your're the SU remember, and have adopted Human Wave tactics ... you have no need for guns :p. Just remember to build transports to ship your troops to USA and convoys (never forget the convoys).

Also for an easy battle in UK just parachute troops in and clean up their pathetic island :D

NEED SCREENIES!!!!
