A bit of a personal peeve here, but I'm curious and confounded that I can build a Griffin missile-heavy, and all the racks show up in the torsos.

Whereas, no matter what racks I drop on a CPLT-C1, it's always the same appearance.

Recently scored a C4 in Yang's little mech heist Flashpoint, but still the same thing.

These mechs are existing MWO models, to my knowledge everything over there is well customizable.

So, what's up with that? Why do we see only half love for the Catapult? If you mod the lasers in the torsos, that does reflect visually. I mean...this is one of my all-time favorite mechs in the franchise.

The way I see it is that even though the C4 has exactly 30 visible missile tubes, it shoots N missiles at a time, cycling through the tubes with each consecutive shot, even if it's only an LRM5. Think of it as a heat dissipation system, just like a gatling gun has multiple barrels even though it shoots only one bullet at a time.

And yeah, my favourite mech too, but I don't really have a problem with this issue.

I've yet to completely define the mechanism behind salvoed weapons on the game, but if you notice, a battery of lasers such as on the Hunchback 4P fire successively, as in chain fire vs. group fire in most MechWarrior titles.

That combined with, as you stated, that missle racks go off like firework chains is part of the heat quality on many mechs. The weapons fire is assumed to be occuring over the length of the mech's movement in the turn, thus the heat is managed better.

I remain disappointed that the Cat's launchers don't actually change with the loadout, when nearly everything else does.
