Looks like this forum has moved on. Last night, after a month of Elemental War of Magic, I needed a break and loaded up EIC. It's been awhile since I've played but in short time I was back in the saddle, looking for a battle. I'd forgotten how much fun the tactial battles are, still the best I've played for ship to ship. I still find myself ducking when cannonballs are coming at me. No, I haven't bought the latest one, I fear my 7300GT does not play the demo well enough to enjoy. I have Privateer too and between the two there's enough sea battles for awhile. EIC......still fun to play.:D

I couldn't agree more:D

I was playing the new game for the last month and while it's much better as a trading/colonizing game if that's what you're into and the graphics are outstanding, there's way less naval combat and quite honestly what there is isn't as good.

So I fired up EIC last week and have been messing around with the data /AI files. One of the weaknesses in the later game was always that me and the Pirates were the only ones with frigates and S-O-L, battling kamikaze xebecs and cutters. I have the AI companies building fleets of frigates in my campaign now in 1640, and I'm hoping to see them with Indiamen and S-O-L when they become available :)

For now EIC is still the best Age of Sail naval game out there.
