My current ruler holds three kingdoms: France, Navarra and Burgundy. That some vassal want the crown authority lowered and create a faction for it: fine. But why on earth would the Duke of Champagne, part of the kingdom of France, create a faction to lower the crown authority in... Navarra!? That some vassals outside the concerned kingdom would join such a faction, to weaken the king so to speak, could be understood, but that they would spend time, plot, recrute etc to get a result that will ultimately not get them anything makes little sense to me.

I've had this happen too. I think it should be fixed because it's not realistic.

Lower crown authority means weaker king. Doesn't matter where the crown authority is lowered, it will weaken his ability to exert power throughout his entire realm.

Actually, CA is independent between Kingdoms, so having a vassal want to lower CA in a different kingdom from their own is a bit odd. Doesn't matter if Navarra is free vassals, if France is still High CA; the Duke of Champagne will still be the subject of the High CA Kingdom.

Unless he's also Duke of Navarra and then switches his primary title.

I do get the point of the OP. In the HRE, some duke under the king of Lorraine soemtimes wants to lower the CA of Bohemia, while the emperor is some guy in Brandenburg. That doesn't make sense. Dunno if this has been fixed in 1.08...

Well my point was actually that lowered CA in any kingdom deprives the king of some sort of power. Maybe he'll get fewer troops from there, or maybe he'll have to contribute more resources to putting down rebellions of vassals whose titles he can't revoke, and so on and so forth. In an informal way lower CA deprives him of at least some resources and influence that he could use throughout the rest of his realm It's conceivable that this might be considered useful if CA in other parts of the realm can't go lower or if other parts of the realm don't have a Lower CA faction with enough power. Hell, a Lower CA faction in a different part of the realm might even be useful to divert the king's resources so a different faction in the empire (like a more local Lower CA faction for example) has a higher chance of success.
