White peace caused me to become vassal-Cepheus v3.4.2(7836)

Please explain your issue is in as much detail as possible.
I was playing a megacorp empire, I was given the task by a fallen empire to prevent a nearby empire from developing AI. I declared war using the Ideology Casus Belli and began waging war against them and there allies. At the end I had conquered some claims as well as most of their star systems and all that of there ally. I chose to the white peace option as forced peace was within days of happening and as a result I received all my claims, but became the vassal of the enemy. Additionally a state was created between us that shared my government type and was allied towards me. I should not have become a vassal according to the wargoal and am very confused as to why I would've after nearly entirely winning the war.
For ease of confusion the screenshot shows what the white peace is supposed to be. I, the Dirtether, was only supposed to receive that and it mentions nothing of becoming a subsidiary.
Steps to reproduce the issue.
Ideology war enemy empire, white peace where some claims are taken and a subject state is to be created, become vassal for no reason.
