Description
Weapons Range Modifier Half Fixed/Half Not Working[2.02d][9b47]

Game Version
2.02d

What version do you use?

Steam

What expansions do you have installed?
All of the above

Do you have mods enabled?
No

Please explain your issue is in as much detail as possible.
The weapons range modifier was supposed to be fixed today's patch according to Wiz on the forums. I have tested in different ways and have found that it is half working and still half broken. I will describe what is working and what is not working separately.

What is working:
1. Ships will initiate combat based on the increased range. This was tested using Kinetic Batteries and Nuclear Missiles.
2. Admiral bonuses work
3. Starbase buildings with the bonus work

What is not working:
1. Ships initiate combat at the new range but do not fire any weapons at all until they are within range they need to be in.
2. The modifier itself does not work at all if used in the ship_size file modifier block. In other words making a starbase have a innate bonus of 250% does nothing at all but the Uplink computer having that bonus does work.

One quick note, if that modifier does not work in ship_sizes it might not be the only one just as a side note.

Steps to reproduce the issue.
1. Change starbase_outpost range bonus from 20% to 250%.
2. Leave the Starport as is
3. Have the starter corvette fleet approach the starbase from the other side of the system after using the attackallfleets command
4. Notice how they actually initiate combat the normal range.
5. Change the uplink computer to 250%, and put it on the starbase. Watch them initiate combat but not actually fire anything.
6. You can repeat step 5 with an Admiral with a 250% bonus and see the same result.
7. I used Missiles since they have a base range of 100 and a L Destroyer with a Kinetic Battery for the other range.

With today's beta patch update, I tested the range modifier and it is now completely working both in my original report about the ship_size modifier and increasing in to 250%. The weapons do fire with the new range.
