If I was to pre-order a 'regular' game package, called 'Stellaris' and my friend the advanced one, 'Stellaris: Nova Edition', would we still be able to play in multiplayer together? And what be the exact limitations for either me or my friend?
Yes; the different "editions" only differ in what out-of-game extras you get (Nova edition comes with the soundtrack). The exception is an arachnid-esque portrait that only Nova and Galaxy get, but Stellaris is set up so that, not only do all players get to play with the game-affecting DLC of whomever hosts the game, but also the cosmetic DLC will show up for other players. So your friend could even play with the spider portrait you don't have and it would be no problem!
I was going to hold out for Stellaris Universe edition...... everything in the pre-release version plus the massage therapist shows up 3 days after release to help with the cramped wrist and swollen ankles.
