Description
[v.3.6.0] (0193) Huge graphical problems in 3.6 Open Beta and earlier

Game Version
v.3.6.0

What version do you use?
Steam

What expansions do you have installed?
Synthetic Dawn, Utopia, Leviathans Story Pack, Apocalypse, Megacorp, Distant Stars, Ancient Relics, Lithoids, Federations, Nemesis, Aquatics

Do you have mods enabled?
No

Please explain your issue is in as much detail as possible.
First of all - before we will get to it - I just want to inform you that in "What expansions you have installed?" there is no answer for Toxoids. I don't have it installed, so let's get this out of the system.

***

This will be long and have several links, so I do apologize for any formatting problems.

For quite some time I have been having problems with Anglers and Catalytic Processing civic - https://www.reddit.com/r/Stellaris/comments/uop2cg .
I made the thread on Forums too - https://forum.paradoxplaza.com/foru...still-low-quality-images-v3-4-2-7836.1524702/.
It went so far, that I even managed to get @Eladrin and @Alfray Stryke to help me - https://www.reddit.com/r/Stellaris/comments/usyq47/_/i971fpf - unfortunately without any results.

After opting-in for the current beta, something even worse happened.

At first I was met with Red Triangle - - as opposed to Yellow One. I disabled all the mods, but every single DLC has showed up itself as corrupted - . Eh, whatever, might be something related to Open Beta, right?

Oh how little did I know...

Anglers Civic quality has gone down even more - - and then there is portrait - . Mind you, it's not just that portrait. In every single group outside of Avian there is either 1 or multiple low quality portraits. See for yourself:

- Aquatics - - you can see that all of them outside of the first 2 are in low quality;

- Humanoids - - Cyclop and Orc in low quality, the rest is fine;

- Machines - - Lithoid and Aquatic are in low quality;

- Mammalians - - incoming Big Head mini, ~50% of the images in low quality. Mammalian 2 - - and Mammalian 3 -
- Reptilians - - outside of this one file, everything seems fine...

- Avians - - everything is fine here;

- Molluscoids weren't saved tho -
- Neither was the Mushroom guy -

I tried verifying files several times. I turned the UI scalling back to normal (so from 1,1x to 1,0x), verified files again. Nothing seems to work. I am stuck with this. The worst thing is, that the graphic files in the game folders seems fine (\Steam\steamapps\common\Stellaris\gfx\models\portraits\ and \Steam\steamapps\common\Stellaris\gfx\interface\icons\governments\civics).

***

I even did what /u/MrFreake (community manager for Stellaris) suggested in here - https://www.reddit.com/r/Stellaris/comments/y36ojk/_/is7cd4p - but it did not work.

He suggested to contact you via support.paradoxplaza.com but unfortunately I was rerouted here by Brett. Ticket ID is #260210 (not providing link cause obvious stuff).

PC Hardware configuration just in case:

Lenovo Z51
Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-5200U CPU @ 2.20GHz 2.20 GHz
RAM 8,00 GB
Win 10 x64
Intel(R) HD Graphics 5500

I don't know if it affected everyone else in beta, cause I haven't tried it yet, but seeing as it expanded only from 2 civics to half of the portraits, I wouldn't be surprised.

In attachements I wanted to send .rar files which is all files from \steamapps\common\Stellaris\gfx and \steamapps\common\Stellaris\ , before I did what @MrFreake_PDX asked me and also which is the same as above. I wanted to send them, but unfortunately after waiting 3 hours on uploading it on support-line, I got error that connection was lost, so no files for now. If you will need them, please write it so I could send them.

I know that all of you right now are overran with reports from Open Beta about some more important stuff, but I would be really thankful if you were to at least take a look at this. And if you do read that post please write anything ranging from "seen" to "thanks for reporting, we will investigate it", so at least I will have some confirmation.

Steps to reproduce the issue.

Lol, a few blurry icons isn't exactly what most would consider "huge" graphical problems.

This is likely an issue with your machine and it's rather weak integrated graphics card, as all the games icons are delivered as uncompressed texture files (dds).

If you want to check for yourself, the icon is in C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Stellaris\gfx\interface\icons\governments\civics\civic_anglers.dds

Drag and drop it into the box here: https://emn178.github.io/online-tools/sha256_checksum.html the result should be 903cad9ba4e0b4a1da954d67d939ad1a93c7bddd16c5943ff5fb1aea473fd510

If that's what you get you have the exact same icon file as everyone else, which works fine.

You can download something that can view DDS files if you want to see the icon on disk. It will look like this one:
civic_anglers.png
