Hello there :) Any advice here is appreciated. I'm having trouble getting stellaris to run at a reasonable speed on Linux. This is a fairly fresh OS install using NVIDIA drivers. Happy to share any information needed to find out why there could be such a dramatic difference (especially since other games with linux or even just proton support seem to run better on Linux, except Stellaris).

Has anyone experienced a similar difference?

Specs:
ryzen 9 5900x
32gb Ram (I forget the speed atm, slightly overclocked)
3060ti

speed for 1 month 600 stars
Windows 10: 6s
Ubuntu 21.10: 62s

I assume this is bare metal, not a VM? Also, are you framerate limited at all? (You shouldn't be with that CPU, Stellaris isn't a graphically demanding game, but it would make more sense).

Yes, bare metal. That is the only difference between the two systems, ones running off a samsung 860 ssd and ones on a samsung 870, though the difference should be negligible there. I'll do a framerate test and see, but the game feels as responsive as I would want it to be (given the needs of stellaris and the hardware I have this shouldn't be the issue like you say, but it wont hurt to check), it only seems to be turn times that are different.
