1st time poster so I hope I didn't mess up where this goes exactly :<

I really enjoy where the Stellaris 1.5 takes the game it expanded on areas the where open for improvement/depth. As with anything else there is always the next step. Forgive me as I am new, and have limited time to gather information through forums, dev dairies, and AMAs on the game. So if this was already brought up, my bad. Below are my thoughts on ethics:

Ethics
  • Ethics are personal quandary for me. I feel you should be able to select each ethic. Why cant a Militarist/Materialist also have a view on Xenos. (See image)
  • Not all materialist think alike, why should their bonuses be alike.
I would also not "hard code" the benefits into the ethics. Instead, each ethic selection give points towards civics. The "ethic" points: Fanatic (orange) 3, Regular(green) 2, and neutral (gray) 1 for each. Then all that would need to add the "hard coded" benefits into the current civics, and make some civics variable in "ethics" cost some costing 2 or even 3 of a certain civic. This would also give you the flexibility to have civics that cost two different "ethics".

I plan on doing more of these, but this is all I have time for today.

Side note:
Do you think it would be feasible to allow players to customize the Syncretic Evolution race?
