Looked around for a suggestion thread, couldn't find one, so i Made one!

Utopia...was really really good. Like it fixed 80-90% of everything I didn't like.

Two things I think really could use a touch up though are the Hive Minds and Racial Traits.

Hive mind you loose a lot of the Ethos benefits, and customization. Its about on par with Pacafist (+20 Harmony) with a slight tweak in the secondary effect.

Then you get to pick 2 of a smaller list of Civics, Except the civics arnt really that ground breaking as they emulate other civics, or give very weak bonuses.

One suggestion I might make is remove the baseline hivemind bonus, and replace it with a decent cost reduction to changing civics. Then make the Civics more powerful.

Essentially your hive mind is dedicating its entire population to be better in a task. They simply outperform that task with this single mindedness. "We are fighting a war and thus need better at that" +20% fleet capacity, +20% fire rate."

Lowering the baseline civic number for hive minds to 1 would even be reasonable. It makes that +1 civic upgrade even more valuable.

On a side note, I greatly enjoy the Agrarian Ideal+Inward Perfection. I've made a race around those civics. It changes the function of one common building to give harmony, and gives a big boost to boot.

Civics that can change the entire way you play, or that interact with each other in interesting ways are god-tier in terms of race creation.

Speaking of race creation. Racial Traits!

In Utopia there is a tree dedicated just to making our pops Better. Faster. Stronger. Techno-

(Ahem.) But we are using the same racial traits since launch? The added advanced traits certainly help, but honestly I'd pay $10 for 10 more basic racial traits right here, right now.

I had one game where I was going to make "Shadowrun Elves" that basically had Cybernetics, Psionics, and Gene modding (max). The entire race was RP'd around Meritocracy. Everyone gets their position for being skilled. So my guys modify themselves to be the best!

Sadly I found you cannot get more than one branch of self improvement, even at tier 1 (boo! :p )

I cant make non religious psionics, which is odd to me.. A trait that allowed the Tier 1 would of been cool. And it makes for cool backstories. "My race is latently psionic already" Sure it might cost 4 race points. But evil decadent chuthulu slavers with mind powers is as fun as it is copyright infringing.
Anyways, my 2 bits.
