Having the same issues, a brand new game on day 1 there's basically pops of every ethics on homeworld resulting in random factions when spawning they trigger. On 2.6.1 (65d2). No mods, all DLC.

I noticed this too. While I only got factions of my starting ethics so far, it is still odd that there were other ethics on my own homeworld. I did choose a federation start, but the only ethic in the federation that was different to my own was "Authoritarian" but I still got pops of all ethics.

Noticed the same issue, having only my capitol planet settled, with pacifist / materialist ethics getting 4 starting factions + spirtualist and militarist, first i might could explain because i found the zro but there was no reason for a militarist faction at all

Hello, thanks for your report, I know that this can be jarring, since ethics attraction has not properly worked for a long time and people have come to expect them to behave a certain way, but this how it is currently intended to play. Your Empire Ethics are still the majority of your population, but there will usually be a degree of deviation from those. Please feel free to continue your feedback though, we'll keep track of it all and see if can make adjustments.

Empire ethics on capital planet are a mess, 2.6.1. faction spaws with more pops than my government ethics nerfing influence generation while trying to expand early game. How come this is wad? The +100% capital attraction is working pre spawned faction?

The unhappy spiritualist faction outnumbers my non fanatic governemnt ethic faction while i have one vision as ascension perk... Also can we get a change where the ethics attraction value decrease and increase is BOTH a % modifier AND a flat modifier so we can indeed completly get rid of factions that just complain about like literally everything your governemnt does. And could we finally get the change that improved living standards increase government ethics. Seriously which person is like: The government increased my standard of living these damn %@#!§?

We did a bit of digging on the forum and there seems to be an issue on the ethics of started spawned POPs that are not considering the fact that the capital has a 100% governing ethics attraction modifier. So, spawned POPs ethics distribution is off compared to expected one while grown POPs ethics distribution match expected one.

I'll add a report .

If this is intended design than governemnt atraction modifiers are effectivly worthless. Ethics variety is good, but it should not happen 10 years into the game when your population lacks the perspective to form different ethics.
Your Empire Ethics are still the majority of your population, but there will usually be a degree of deviation from those. Please feel free to continue your feedback though, we'll keep track of it all and see if can make adjustments.
At the time my first ffactions spawned the majority of my pops where of non government ethics if i combined everything. So despite the intentions, was at least false in my case.

Also we need tools to combat ethics divergence that actually have an impact in a meaningfull way and is not unleashing a godray on your own planets.

@Gruntsatwork while we're on the topic of ehtics atraction, i have a question for you.
I jsut achieved 105% government ethics atraction. Sure boon of the shroud is temporary, but for the time being that means all pops should drift towards my governing ethics right?
upload_2020-3-18_14-8-30.png

seems not
upload_2020-3-18_14-10-2.png

So what is suposed to be happening then? How does that modifier work?

Its a "+" 105% modifier for an ethics attraction, not "105% of all Pops are of governing ethics".
Currently its almost impossible to get rid of factions once they are created, regardless of governing ethics & modifiers :(

But I agree, more clarity on that topic would be great.

Well, I suppose when testing it with the Void Dwellers origin is when it gives off random factions given the distribution among all 3 habitats is even, when settling 2nd world otherwise the math works out to make it a majority so only main factions pop first. The issue then becomes if it's intended for void dwellers to potentially get random factions given their very wide divergence at spawn and factions triggering quicker for them. On the other hand, it might be a nice balancing effect to a potentially OP origin.

If this is working as intended, then how come when selecting settlers for my new worlds, I can't intentionally select people with the right ethics, even when authoritarian? If I can select them by species, why not by ethics, thus making sure that the right ethics proliferate on new worlds more than the ones I don't like? Why does it feel as if I have almost no influence on ethics spread?

If this is working as intended, then how come when selecting settlers for my new worlds, I can't intentionally select people with the right ethics, even when authoritarian? If I can select them by species, why not by ethics, thus making sure that the right ethics proliferate on new worlds more than the ones I don't like? Why does it feel as if I have almost no influence on ethics spread?
You can do this just make sure the correct pop(s) have a certain job or are unemployed then resettle the job pops (one after another because you have to make sure no other ethic fills the empty spot).

I don't mean re-settlement, I mean when selecting the pops that man the colony ship. Besides, this is something even non-authoritarian empires can do, even when they cannot use resettlement. But you're right, re-settlement might be a way to influence this if authoritarian. :)
