Stellaris - Shortcut Keys and Right Click doesn't work

In Stellaris... my shortcut keys are not working. Nor does the right click bring up the menus for the science and construction ships.

This is making it really tedious to play.

Searched settings and didn't find anything.

Please help

press alt. Just once. ( no need to hold it or anything)
