Traits: Intelligent, Sedetary, Natural Physicists
Ethos: Fanatic Materialistic, Individualistic

Homeworld: Eternis
Planet type: Used to be Arid, now it's a ringworld with all kinda biomes.
Short Description of Species: Look like bugs of various shapes, but always covered in a gold coloured metal, and with green, glowing eyes. Have limited hive-memory, i.e. everybody has full access to everybody else's memories, but they still retain their full individuality and can easily determine which memories are theirs, and which are somebody else's. Can shapeshift to quite a big degree.
Short Description of Empire and History: Used to be a regular pre-sentience bug species with limited telepathy. An ancient race decided to experiment on them, and integrated nanomachines into their body structure to the point that it was, basically, a part of their biology. A lot of time had passed, the Eternates had evolved to the point that nanomachines are now the entirety of their body. They had contacted the race that created them, and quickly arranged friendly interactions.
All was well, science marched on like a train, but then the ancient race disappeared somewhere, without any notice. The Eternates grew sad, and adopted their language as their "official" language, even though they don't really require that much actual talking due to sharing memories.
Time had passed, science marched on like a rocket, but then Eternates were attacked by a conqueror race. They've captured every planet except for Eternis, their home. Eternis quickly built up defenses to such a degree that the conqueror aliens couldn't even get close to it without their fleet being completely devastated. Eventually a friendly race that opposed these conquerors arrived and joined the fight, allowing the Eternates to build up a fleet. Together they pushed the aliens away from their borders, recaptured their planets, and nearly took the fight to the aliens empire before they gave up. That's how they got their name, Eternates, because if not for these friendly aliens, it seemed like they could've fought off the conquerors for eternity.
Time had passed, science marched on like a laser, and then Eternates decided to build a ringworld. They brought every single Eternate from other worlds back home, deconstructed every single planet in their star system other than Eternis, and a few in the others, and built a Ringworld where they all now live.
They are quite peaceful and content with merely continuing their research, sitting in their single ringworld. They value individuality. They mostly lack the need for government, but for those rare occasions/for communication they've installed a "government" composed of the brightest of minds. They don't keep a regular fleet, but are fully capable of producing a decent-sized one very quickly, and their ringworld is extremely heavily defended with ground-based defenses.
They live in a wholly different galaxy from the one this RP thread takes place, but have left quite a few machines and automated stations in it when they were there for surveying purposes.
