Honestly who cares where HOI places in the seller list. As long as I and all of you that want to play it are able to who really cares.

It is worth pointing out that many 3rd party websites have significant discounts for HOI preorders, which as far as I know did not happen for Stellaris. These 3rd party sites are probably accounting for a good chunk if not most of HOI's sales and I would imagine that these 3rd party sales are not included in Steam's sales statistics.

Well I sort of agree. As long as it's a financial success for Paradox and they keep supporting it then it's all good.

It's understandable, lots of new players are attracted to Stellaris because it's the easiest game Paradox ever made for new-comers
Meanwhile, HoI is much of a Hardcore games, the sells does not mean Stellaris is better than HoI or not, but enough to prove it's a best-seller.
You can expect FPS game like Operation Flashpoint or Red Orchestra to out-sell CoD or BF

I'm not sure what Stellaris's sells compared to HoI 4's sales have to do with anything. I see them having a different demographic with some overlap of course ( i bought Stellaris and am enjoying it ). I have no doubt HoI 4's sales will be more than enough for them to keep pumping out some nice expansions for years to come.

Stellaris being an 4x, quite easier to get into and a space game, I don't think HoI have any chance of beating it's sales. That doesn't matter much though. What is important is for HoI to have better initial sales that the others Paradox GSG.
I disagree. I think what's important is that HoI 4 makes it money back in a reasonable timeframe, nothing more. Paradox isn't going to stop making them if they don't smash records.
I got a refund on my steam purchase and bought it from Paradox directly and I definitely am not in the Stellaris purchase numbers lol, HOI for life

I care, because if Hoi4 sells good there will be incentive to get lots of improvements into the game and quickly, if it sells badly then the patches and expansions will - naturally - suffer.
Hearts of Iron games sell like hotcakes thanks to WW2. I don't think you need worry.
HOI IV will suffer because of the close launch to Stellaris. It seems like it would hvae been more optimal to release Stellaris three to six months later. It sure could have needed the development time. And it wouldn't have cannibalized the launch of HOI IV.
I think you can look at it another way too. Stellaris and HOI4 might actually help each other. I personally think Stellaris is a good game. I know alot of people have issues with it but they'll fix those. Newbies that bought and like Stellaris might want more....like HOI4. It might take a couple months but I think you might see HOI4 get a bump because of that....if it gets good reviews. (even though I personally throw reviews in the trashcan cause they always have some douche do them)

After 30 years of WW2 games (more? we are in 2016, I´m pretty sure 1990 already had a lot of WW2 releases) I don´t think that is that much of a virtue anymore. It´s like the zombie and superhero trope. It´s not that people won´t buy it, just don´t think it´s THAT big a thing.
Anyway who cares. Nowadays it´s more about having options. I´m happy that Stellaris sold a lot just as I´m happy that Witcher 3 sold a lot. Wouldn´t it suck to go to the market and only see bananas to buy? So let´s be happy that you can buy a game in ANY setting.

It is so stupid to post such thread when you have NO evidence of how the sales are going..If you are looking only at steam, then you are very wrong since ppl are buying the game from PDX store, GMG and many other resellers, not just steam..
Also, as was mentioned above, now the epic long awaited game Total War Warhammer is coming out in a week, there is a big sale for Witcher 3...
It is just too silly to look at top sellers at steam and say "HOI IV is doing bad.." -_-
