I will not be able to host this game due to internet issues and potential work conflicts, I believe there are other weekday games that will be an excellent alternative though.
Spoiler for posterity .
Spoiler for posterity .
A lot of people want to play large multiplayer games ASAP, myself included but there is something to be said about smaller games where you can really get to know all of your friends and enemies. I copy and pasted this from the multiplayer game I've signed up for, we are using the Steam group Stellaris MP and the rules of the community there. (The rules may not scale down well so they may change) Also since this is a day after the release it will be the most newb friendly game that stellaris will ever have without trying IMO. I certainly will still be learning how to play.
Also: I am planning on streaming the game on twitch and posting it on youtube. I have no details on that ATM because I've never done it before, also if it ends up compromising my ability to host the game I won't be streaming, as hosting is my first priority.
http://steamcommunity.com/groups/StellarisMP
I copied and pasted this format from Hiiki's thread and edited the pieces that are game specific
We don't know much about exploits and balance in MP. The plan right now is to find a common set of rules with the Saturday campaign. This is what we've managed to agree on thus far (subject to change):
I posted these in full so people outside of the Stellaris MP steam group can see them, but I'm waving all restrictions on naming and roleplay convention/restrictions you can play how ever you want and I put no emphasis on roleplaying a certain way or at all. But if you want to roleplay or play a copyrighted idea or steal from history or something else go ahead, it's all fair game.
Also no diplomatic rules you have full reign of your diplomatic options in this game except for exploiting alliance wars and defense mechanisms, IMO that falls under "No Stupid bullshit" (my personal favorite rule) but I want to be clear on that since definitions of stupid bullshit may vary.
Player Behaviour
- No stupid bullshit.
- Don’t be an asshole to other players and respect the GMs and Mods.
- GMs will refrain from making up rules in the middle of sessions.
- Absent players must give warning that they will not show up, otherwise they are at the mercy of the AI and other players within three in-game years of the session starting. Those who give warning will be protected (if the game has a “stay put and research/build stuff” thing, we’ll use that). Best of all: Find a substitute!
- Show up on time. The game will have hot join, so there will be little leeway given.
- The game proceeds at a speed chosen by the GM(s). Players are not allowed to pause the game other than for:
*** War declarations
*** An absolute crisis (a bad event is, by itself, not a crisis! The start of an end-game crisis? Yes, maybe.)
*** Catching someone breaking rules (take screenshots!)
- Players are not allowed to communicate their location, or that of other players, in the Galaxy. Communicating who your neighbors are is fine. Players with special access to this information (likely the host and GMs) are especially restricted from announcing such information. The GMs may allow the Galaxy map to be revealed by a certain date (such as 2300).
Signup/Faction rules
- We’re here to have fun, but to keep things tolerable for everyone, we won’t accept:
*** A direct copy of a historical or a fictional faction (inspiration, even heavy, is okay).
*** No “The Evil Empire of Evilness”. You don’t have to write epic fantasy, but make up something tolerable.
*** A GM may specifically void this rule for their campaign. This should be made clear in the signup thread. (I have done so)
- We encourage players to have some regard for the type of empire they’re playing so there’s not a complete disconnect, such as the fanatical pacifist xenophile empire being a complete warmonger.
- GMs have autonomy regarding how they form their rosters, and all the settings of their games. However, we strongly encourage GMs to utilize a standard template including Homeworld, FTL, Species, Ethos, Traits, Government and Description. This will help players pick a variety of homeworlds and create a more unique and well-thought out faction.
- At GM discretion, defeated players can be let back into the game, if another faction donates a vassal or there is an available AI/abandoned faction. However, not near the one who defeated them, unless the victor is alright with it.
Warfare
- If a player surrenders to all your war goals, you must accept.
- Players are constrained to war goals that are feasible in-game.
- War between players is declared by pausing, writing “X declares war on Y for XYZ”, then waiting a minute for the other side before unpausing, to give the other side time to prepare or surrender. This rule is void in first contact wars.
- Acceptance of peace terms must be accepted by either by the target of the claims or a majority of players on either side.
Diplomacy
- No more than 5 factions may form a federation and no more than 6 players total may exist within an alliance. If alliances between factions and federations are possible, they count for the number of people inside it.
*** For games of 12 players or less, or in order to face a late-game threat or other great non-player enemy, this rule is void. Small game GMs can formulate other limits. (No limits ! Anarchy baby! )
- Players are not allowed to abuse leaving alliances or federations to declare multiple wars against factions as a way to bypass limits on warscore or truces.
Rules are automatically update from steam group.
Details:
- Ill be the host, I'd like to have a backup though.
-I figure the host also regulates the responsibilities, I'd like to have a co-host.

Day:
Thursday! Woooo! The day after release. Let's jump head first into multiplayer!
Time: The time right now I'm looking at is 6pm-9pm but I would be open to shifting it an hour in either direction depending of feedback from the rest of the players. USA East Coast UTC -4
My steam nick is Chimera3.5 and if you have any questions you can ask me there on steam, here in this thread or message me here on these forums.
Galaxy Map: 250-600 please post your opinions on that, we'll probably just take a vote on it, I think the other MP games are using the spiral formations so I think either ring or ellipitical would be cool.
# of AI: TBD
