The thing that made cookie clicker enjoyable for a lot of people was the management part of it, not the rapid clicking part. You rapidly click to get a few of the "cookies," then spend them to get automators that do the work for you. I played the game just to see how fast I could farm the resources, and at one point I was getting two trillion cookies a second over two weeks of not closing my browser. I think that's a fundamental part of the "clicker" genera that was missed for the minigame. However, it is just a promotional minigame and there really isn't harm in it.

If the only point of the game is to gather blueprints for their lottery they should keep the blueprints, be more informative about what the game is and strip the click goal completely.
The clicking game was fairly bad by itself however raising the target goal that much without even a response has put me off. I see one of two things happening.
People becoming frustrated but some eventually achieve the goal through autoclickers or people just give up on it.

At the moment this game does the opposite of generating hype.

With the apparent 100k clicks/day cap, that means they want 20,000 person-days of 'effort' (read: autoclicking) committed in the next ~50 days. So, 400 dedicated users... ish. Well.

What the heck is this? Have you all been replaced by pod people? I don't know what is more disturbing... paradox making this or that some people are enjoying it.

Is this related to the IPO and the announcement about getting into mobile games? Should we expect more of this?

Figured it out, the auto clicker is immediately enabled if you click too much too fast, and any clicks accrued during that time are invalidated. It's designed as an macro-defeat mechanism, but also does make this tedious as heck because if you have any real mouse clicky skill, it's not hard at all to trigger it manually.
