On my first First Contact game I was complaining of the lack of neighbors as I only found two Honorbound Warriors to my galactic Southeast (I was at the root of one arm in a 2-spiral arm galaxy) before I made a new game.
On my second First Contact game I started in the outer rim with a Hive Mind to my galactic Northeast... and a Hegemony to my galactic Southwest leaving me with only my core sector as expansion area.

That kind of idiocy from media inspires me to commit even more war crimes in Stellaris, and create empires designed to maximize warcrimes.
