Hyperdrive ships don't need to travel to the edge of the system to jump. Even if they have the same cool down timer as warp (wormhole cooldown works differently) it is still on average faster because it can instantaneously jump the moment it needs.
Not that easy to answer. There may be different rules that apply to Multiplayer but in singleplayer there is likley an option to use the Blorg Mod in a way that they have the same starting system as we saw on extratrestial thursday. Just as there is an option for the Sol system to be in the game as it is.
For the hyperdrive discussion. I haven't seen that much footage on how hyperdrive works yet. Quill18 used it in his rather short play as slaving cats in March I think. Without seeing the Hyperlanes it is really hard to rate it.

Pretty much smooth as far as I could see. They had 22 people playing for 6 hours and it crashed for only two people that could hot join back in again immediately.
They still had two bugs, I think. One trait that a governor gained through an event didn't show up on his character sheet and the Fallen Empires seem to be not really working as intended and I hope Wiz, Merni or however will be able to fix this before release or shortly after.
I thought it was a bit off-putting that he was complaining about the game he was given special access to at a special event to the developer's face in front of thousands of viewers. Really didn't give me a positive impression of the guy. The forums are supposed to be where you complain!
I don't know...
His comments about the Tundra colonization and ship building seemed pretty valid IMHO. And I'm sure the devs will appreciate the feedback he gave on the matter and everything will be sorted out until release.

I don't disagree with him providing feedback about his experience with the game, but out of respect for Paradox I think he might have done it in a more discreet fashion (perhaps pulling Wiz aside after the stream was over).
My advice for tomorow: Go to quills twitch page. He hosts the Paradox Stream and the chat is moderated by his wife. It's a lot less people and a lot more civil. We were actually able to have discussions about what was happening in the chat.

They know Arumba by now. They know that he loves the games and they know that his criticism is often very valid, hell they answered to his "Arumba's adjustments" videos for EU IV some time back and implemented a lot of his suggestions.
I also think that Wiz and him like each other and talk or twitter a lot about the games.
And I like him being open and honest about it. They dragged him before the camera and asked him stuff, so he answered.

Well lets be fair, 70% of his problems come from angering a FE and not exploring all the anomalies
Also, it seems like he is not really far behind on ship tech, this is more an issue of a high number of players on a small Galaxy Map. So having a ship tech more can be pretty important.
