Description
[Le Guin v2.2.3 (1960)] Negative stored society research prevents building

Game Version
Le Guin v2.2.3 (1960)

What version do you use?

Steam

What expansions do you have installed?
Synthetic Dawn,
Utopia,
Leviathans Story Pack,
Apocalypse,
Megacorp, , All of the above

Do you have mods enabled?
No

Please explain your issue is in as much detail as possible.
I was unable to build anything (including districts, starbase modules, armies, startions etc) and the tooltip said I was lacking 35.408 society research. This appears to be caused by having a negative amount of stored society research (-35 according to the tooltip), which probably happened as a result of researching special projects.

I was able to resolve the issue by loading a previous save, or by allowing the month to tick over, which reset the stored research to 0 and allowed me to build again.

Steps to reproduce the issue.
Have a negative amount of stored society research, then be unable to build anything. See attached save and screenshots.

Updoot for pointing out this bug still exists in 2.6.1 (65d2).

Clarification: The negative-stored research does not actually prevent you from construction, it only shows up listed as 'reason why you can't build', if there is another factor preventing you from actually building the thing. (Example in screenshot: Once I got the alloys, I could build just fine, despite the fact the research stockpile did not change.)

Hi, we are aware of the issue and its being looked into to be fixed. Just to make sure, in the game where this is still happening, could you check if you are by any chance researching 2 society special projects at the same time. (they must be advancing at the same time, not be queued one after another), that is the most likely source for you to gain a negative research stockpile.

Yup, I was pursuing several Special Projects shortly prior to the bug occuring, and as seen in the screen I do have 2 seemingly parallel-running society special projects. (And by now I have negative research stockpiles for both Social and Engineering).
Albeit if I let a month pass, only the first-queued one of the two received progress... but evidently at some point prior to 'now' the second project must have gotten some progress (thus run parallel to the first), maybe in the first month of it being queued up? So, yeah, special projects seem to be a possible cause for this.

That confirms it, thank you. In general, we believe there are some communiation projects that are still not properly locked, though the majority should no longer run concurrently. In any case, a fix is being worked and should hopefully cover all cases.
