Description
Gradually decreased performance on a top PC to a 0-5 FPS, tech support sent me here 2023.1.1

Game Version
2023.1.1

What version do you use?
Steam

What expansions do you have installed?
Utopia, Leviathans Story Pack, Apocalypse, Megacorp, Distant Stars, Ancient Relics, Federations, Nemesis

Do you have mods enabled?
No

Please explain your issue is in as much detail as possible.
FPS and game speed goes slower and slower to an almost unplayable state after 2450 year. 4090 / 13900kf / whatever PC. Tech support checked everything and failed to fix ;( 4k display.

Steps to reproduce the issue.
Well, huge galaxy and just play. Since screenshots don't show anything and I cannot attach video and at least 1 file must be attached, I attach PC specs.

Seen this too. Let the crisis whipe out half the galaxy and wondered why the performance refused improving... (on the other hand there also was a war in heaven going on for a few hundred years already).

I dunno what you expect anyone to do with the information provided. Do you have a save that reproduces the issue? Do you have game logs or crash logs? Do you have a gif or something demonstrating where or when you're having the issue? A large galaxy in late game (IE, 2450) can be laggy, but 0-5 FPS is way below where vanilla normally would be.

2023.1.1 is not a game version also.

I have a save. Game version is latest, steam auto-update it. The most noticeable things are: 1) slower time flow. Way slower. 2) lags when scrolling map 3) lags and freezes in combats.
I'd like to get a feedback if someone can run it on 4k display and see FPS/lags.

Averages 60 FPS paused for me, 30-40 FPS unpaused.

It's about normal for late game in a large galaxy, maybe a bit on the slow side considering it's vanilla and not modded. There are a lot of repeated AI mercenary related events but I think it's intended to work that way...

Yeah, if you're scrolling in the map while time is passing it's going to be laggy, because there is a lot of stuff going on while the game is rendering, it's much easier to pause the game when you want to interact late game. (I have some normal game mods that can help with this, by eliminating icon culling which causes some stutter on maps with a lot of icons, as well as some other mods for just general performance improvement... there are other mods that can help as well, but I doubt you can use any in ironman mode).

Combat is laggy in late game with large fleets because of all the ships that need to be rendered... Your save does seem to be particularly laggy for vanilla, and the devs could likely do some stuff to improve the render time in that particular scenario, but you can easily bypass this by just not being in systems where fleet battles are going on, if you aren't watching it, the stuff doesn't need to be rendered.

In non-ironman you can open the console and use 3dstats to see the framerate, and then tweakergui draw.* to open up tweakergui so you can enable/disable different things it's rendering and see how it impacts the framerate, for example, projectiles, particles and ship trails have a small effect, but all the ships themselves have the largest effect. I may look into seeing if there is a way I can tweak this myself in my own patch (github in sig) to improve ship render performance, but I doubt it'd ever get improved much in the vanilla game because the rendering code is likely a fairly core component that isn't really something you'd be changing at this point in the game's lifecycle.

All that said, ironman mode is dumb.
