Sounds like a boring 4x game. There are tons of them already, and the newer ones are a) not good and b) it's a concept I'm getting tired off. I'm quickly losing interest in this game.

It sounds like one of the most ambitious games ever, on par with what Spore should have been. The real question is if they can pull it off, but sure as hell it doesn't look boring.

also also, love how the alpha screenshots have both the classic strategic top-down view of PDS GS games and Sins of a Solar Empire style visuals.

Will this game have characters eg politicians, soldiers, generals, rulers, admirals, ship captains etc? Characters are what will sell this game for me, because
1. It will make this game unique compared to all the other dozens of Space 4x games that have been released for the past couple of years.
2. It will make this game closer to Crusader Kings, which can only be a good thing.
3. It makes your ships, fleets, armies etc more than just generic gameplay devices, and generally makes things more realistic.

In the screenshots I see one scientist, but no one else.

I'm disappointed that they didn't go for a realistic depiction of space objects. For example, asteroids belts as depicted in the trailer exist only in imagination, in real life their density is much lower.

Back when Augustus was revealed it was told it had been in development for 1.5 years. Which would mean 3 years by now.

The RPS-Article made me hyped! Strange, some days ago I've started to look out for X4-games that could please my hunger for space games. And now an announcement that seems to focus exactly on features I'd like to see in a space game!

So far, Alpha Centauri is the best "space" game for me. Different factions, exploring which realy feels like exploring (a strange planet where you always discover sth new) and much more. Hope you guys can surpass it

Distant Worlds, Private and Public sectors. Brilliance. That alone makes it THE space epic for me. Burnt out on the rest of them, no interest remains. It's a crowded genre innit.

I don't know about Endless Space but the Distant Worlds character system is very rigid and inflexible.

For example, the amount of traits is very small and is completely hardcoded.

Those specs are also the specs for CKII though; and you cannot really run CKII with them anymore. It appears as if PI hasn't updated the specs in a few years.

And it clunks on Clockwork Empires :/ I shall have to invest in a new PC even if only to improve Ck2 Performance
