Stellaris froze my system at 5% loading (Big Sur)

Hello guys.
It is the first time that an app froze so hard my big sur macbook pro 16, that I was forced to do a hard reset from the on/off button.
Is it possible to play this game in this system or should I ask for a refund from steam?

It's not a known problem with the game on Big Sur, no - we'd certainly know by now if it affected every MacOS 11 user that way!

Most MacBooks only have an Intel video system, which is not supported hardware for this game. If that's what yours has, probably best to seek that refund.

If however your machine has an AMD video system as well, then this should definitely not be happening!

Please attach your Documents/Paradox/Stellaris/settings.txt and pdx_settings.txt .
From your Documents/Paradox/Stellaris/logs/ folder, attach system.log , error.log

Also in Steam please click on Steam-Help-System Info, and paste everything there into a text file and attach that here.

BUT keep an eye on the "You've Played" number for this game in Steam - if it gets near 2 hours STOP and seek that refund as Steam will not refund after that point.

Hi, I have the same problem with Stellaris (bought via Steam) on my Macbook Pro with M1 chip. I guess this hardware is also not supported?

None of our games have been ported to native code for the M1 chip, no. But in general they run okay under the Rosetta emulation.

Yours is the identical issue, it hangs at 5%?

If I can get those log files I may be able to comment further.

Hi Andrew, yes it‘s the same issue: loading screen freezes at 5% every time and only a hard reset helps. Where do I find the log files?

I'm having the same problem. My whole system is freezing at the load screen when it gets to 5%. I have a 2020 MacBook Air, MacOS 11.4 with the M1 chip. How would I go about sending you any files to help me diagnose what's going wrong? Thank you!

Last night was my first time trying to play. I got it working on my Surface 4 but I'd much prefer to play on my newer computer.

When you make a post here, do you see the Attach Files button down the lower left?

change settings in launcher to launch in window, then you'll get a MACOSX allow stellaris to access documents folder prompt, when you allow you're in.

The reason why it freezes at 5% is because the ”first“ time you open the game, a pop up appears on your desktop asking permission to access your documents folder, but you can’t see it because the game takes up the whole screen. The first time I got around this was by opening the game in a window, but the second time (which is easier) I pressed command+option+escape.

I think the new mac update helps.
