I wonder how much cooperation the AI would be willing to do when a Tyranid-like crisis sets in. Would they just keep on hating everyone else and be exterminated or will they be capable of getting together even with their old rivals to deal with the common threat.

I imagine it might be somewhat similar to how humanity reacts in Turtledove's Worldwar when the Race invades amidst WWII: everyone continues hating the guts out of each other, but everyone just kinda tolerates the others and agrees to hold fire until we kick those pesky aliens out. They all have a common foe, sure, but they are basically each fighting their own separate war against it, with an agreement to not get in each other's way.

Judging by the streams I've watched so far, the AI is capable of recognizing a threat, especially one of such scale as Intergalactic invaders. For example the Blorg's best fungoid friend (so far) realised that they're in a threat as one of the neighbouring empires is stronger and dislikes them.
You may want some more evidence for that, but I strongly believe that the AI is advanced enough to know what's up.

That is a pretty good question. It never occurred to me before. Will the AI treat them just like another empire? Will they want to band the heck up and guard the galaxy.

It makes me wonder how many end-game crisis' there will be. I read in one dev dairy that even beings a different dimension can come through. *Shudders* me thinks Cthulhu wants friends?

It'd be cool if you could reverse engineer the technology they used to enter your galaxy/dimension, so you could become the extra-galactic threat to another galaxy (another dimension is probably pushing it). Perhaps introducing multiple maps so you just have one galaxy on the screen at a time. Appreciate that might be stretching from multiple perspectives.
