The Aeternum will to survive.

We have colonised all habitable planets within our space and made the decision that new land was required for us to continue to grow and ensure our survival. With this in mind we looked to the uncharted space beyond our borders to the north of our empire.

Whilst we do not know exactly what we will find there, it is our belief that given the frequency of habitable worlds within the space we have explored that the possibility of finding suitable worlds in that uncharted space is high. However it was clear that our path to this space had been blocked by the expansion of the Omni Codex.

Though the Omni Codex had recently informed us that they were no longer interested in assimilating our populations, we needed to find those new worlds to inhabit. It is of little concern to us what other empires do, and we are content to focus on ourselves, but there was no apparent alternative path to these uncharted systems, other than by going through Omni Codex space.

To this end, we declared our war against the Omni Codex to open up a path to this space and explore these new frontiers to continue our expansion, growth and survival.

Knowing our superiority, once we had established a suitable path, we offered a peace agreement to the Omni Codex, several times, but they refused our offers. Then they decided to cross our borders into our space and not only attack one of our space stations, but destroy it, leaving behind a small outpost. This clearly was not acceptable so we retaliated, taking back our system and driving into the heart of Omni Codex space, taking another system from them in the process.

Foolishly the Omni Codex then sent their fleet to attack ours, we are disappointed that these machines could not see the folly of their actions as their fleet was completely decimated in the face of our superior forces. After this act, the Omni Codex accepted peace and we now continue our expansion and search for habitable worlds.

It has come to our attention though that the Omni Codex is utilizing the truce between our empires to continue to expand beyond our territory to the north, for now, we do not mind these actions. But we issue this warning to the Omni Codex, if you take one of these habitable worlds which we are seeking, we will take it by force.

The cold dark spaces between habitable worlds do not interest us though, nor do we care for that ancient fortress which floats quietly in one of the empty systems.

The Aeternum will survive.

CUPITORI SCIENTIST CAUSES SLIGHT SNAFU
Experimental AI Temporarily Takes Control Over Cupitori Systems

CUPITOR - Pac. 124, 2261 - The Cupitor Technocracy, a peaceful technocratic oligarchy in the core regions of the Galaxy, today announced that for the past few years an experimental AI dubbed “The Mind” has been in control of 99.12% of the essential government systems directing everything from the state economy, to diplomatic communications and the armed forces.

The scientist responsible for the unleashing of the “The Mind” software, famous recombinant memetician Ki Kaskan, has been relieved of his duties until further notice.

“It was an honest mistake,” says Mr. Kaskan, “I was in the middle of enjoying a break after a long night of coding, when I splashed some coffee on the keyboard and accidentally hit the ‘upload’ button”.

Government officials of the famously introvert Cupitori people deemed it best to keep quiet about the mishap after having decided that “It would just cause a big ruckus [if we] would try to explain the implications of the take-over to the rest of the galactic community”.

The honest mistake did however cause major ramifications to both the Cupitori state and its neighbours when the apparently bloodthirsty AI voted yes in the Galactic Coucil to war on The Dredge civilization.

“We would never have voted yes to open conflict had we been in control”, explains Secretary of State Vesk Iman, “We Cupitori firmly believe in upholding the peace, and staying away from such… adventures”.

Other consequences of the accidental upload include opening the borders to the notorious crime syndicate ‘The Family’, the colonization of the worthless Tomb World of Ter Vosk and completely redesigning the economy to focus on military build-up instead of research institutes.

Control of the Cupitori governmental systems have however finally been re-established and the leaders are now lobbying to end the bloody war with The Dredge.

After this act, the Omni Codex accepted peace and we now continue our expansion and search for habitable worlds.
And with that, the Aeternum have nicely positioned themselves to become probably the largest empire in the game and likely the dominant force in the northeast (barring maybe a spiritualist federation.) (And may I add, it was either a nice pre-game misdirection or excellently opportunistic acquisition on his part.) The question is how quickly they can snap up the rest of that spiral arm and where they'll expand after that. Were I there neighbors (and that includes anyone who might unknowingly have a wormhole to Aeternum space, I would worry about what the next 30-40 years might hold.

I also find it interesting that neither federation actually supported their members in wars: the UNG actively opposing the PlatyCorp punitive action against the Dredge and the Interstellar refraining from involvement in the Asphodel-Valtun border dispute. One has to wonder at the unity of purpose of both, and how useful they will actually be to their members.

That said, the PlatyCorp-Dredge war might have unfortunate repercussions for the UNG if it pushes the Dredge towards the Interstellar (depending on the Interstellar's members' views on whether hiveminds can truly be socialists), so one wonders as to PlatyCorp's motivations.

Also, I have to revise my previous assessments of the potential power of a spiritualist federation. Considering the current collective weakness of the Spiritualist empires (none of them rank above 12 in scores and are mostly middling at best in each area) and the vanishing likelihood of the hiveminds joining (the Aeternum need that Influence to expand and no longer need aid against the Omni Codex, the Dredge are probably more likely to join the Interstellar if anyone), and the fact that they will probably soon have to worry about an Aeternum front, rather than being focused on the west, they would be more likely to be equal to the other federations at best, at least for now. Admittedly, events could still reverse that. Both the Church of Chains and the Shrimpali could aggressively expand into their neighbors. It seems that the bulk of the Baatezu and PlatyCorp navies are currently far away, leading to some nice pick-up opportunities (I don't know if the Church still maintains non-aggression with either). Meanwhile, the Shrimpali have their choice between three pacifistic neighbors with weaker fleets (albeit with fortified borders.)

Regarding the empire stats posted earlier:
To get the "raw" empire score without federation bonus points, remove ~4k from all Interstellar members and ~2.7k from all UNG members.

What about the sub-scores?
How exactly are the federation points calculated and added?

Public Announcement:

Naming:
After our marketing horses conducted multiple stakeholder interviews we settled on Cyber Equestrian Collective.
Our pops, once we are able to rename them, will be known as the Cyber Ponies or short Cybronies.

Thank you all for your input. :)

Agreement with the 5th Interstellar:
To continue our good relations with members of the fifth Interstellar, we hereby announce to treat all workers equal to specialist, thus nullifying their former stratification.
We hope we can live in peace and prosperity with them.

*ROFL-copters in the background intensify*

On the agreement with the Interstellar: Does that mean you took shared burden, adopted Utopian Abundace, or what?

Peace and Prosperity is what the UNG was created to promote! Join us in a new era of intergalactic expansion!
Yes, but the Interstellar offer peace, prosperity, and equality (and memes). So their offer seems inherently better.

We need a guaranteed war in heaven so players can align themselves with the various factions :)

If any of the socialists join either side in the WIH, they should be disqualified from winning the RP trophy. No right minded leftist would submit to ancient decrepit decadents, especially considering their newfound imperialist ambitions. I will concede that they might temporarily put aside their differences with the capitalists, degenerate slavers and religious propagandists who brainwash their workers with dogma, in say, a "League of non-aligned powers" to fight both groups. But, to quote a coat of arms from a nation from earth: Freedom or Death. Nothing in between, and if the socialists can't liberate the degenerate precursor states, then they should make sure to take as many as the imperialist s***stains with them as they can.

What I really want is a battle-royale. A 1v1v1 between the Communists, Capitalists and the United Neutral/Unaligned, in the middle of the War in Heaven and for bonus points, the end game crisis pops up around this time too. It would be chaotic and destructive and I really want it :D

Also the Terkadians were the first to get Habitats but I would remind them that it is only the first who gets a Colossus that counts :p

Since the War in Heaven is the endgame crisis, you cannot have 2 at the same time (without mode, of course)

But, there is a rule in this dev clash, that spiritualist CAN invoke the end of the cycle. Imagine, a war between 2 awoken empire, with communist and capitalist in the middle.
What is the sole solution for spiritualist? To call the End.

That, sir, is what I would love to see.

While the rest of the galaxy gets themselves all in a twist over this and that extremist ideology, The Family is just quietly opening more and more Legitimate Businessbeing's Social Clubs throughout space, fulfilling the needs of the downtrodden masses left in the wake of all this interstellar fuss and nonsense. Why let yourself get crushed by the gears of this or that big government shell game? Why struggle and die for some damn fool idea when all the galaxy really respects is force, like our new fleet? After all, you get more with a smile and cruiser, than a smile alone. Come to The Family and kiss the ring.

The Terkardians already have, look how happy they are:

War in heaven is not an end game crisis and I do remember a thread with someone having the crisis arrives during the war. Though I might have missed a patch note that made that impossible since then.

Cyber Equestrian Collective News - "The Cyber Gallopper" - Week #3:

After a successful rebranding, the Cyber Horses continued a economic and scientific charge this week.

Particularly, we would like to applaud (it is more a snorting and stomping actually) our science corps, who successfully managed to discover the Cybrex Alpha home before our galactic competitors.

Cybrex Alpha - The Final Rush - News Report:
After session two had ended, CEC leadership got disconcerting spy reports that some empires were close to completing all six artifacts of the Cybrex precursors chain. An extensive review of our cataloged anomalies revealed that we had to complete three more level VIII anomalies. Science vessels were immediately scrambled to all three anomalies and our best horse science officers reassigned to the ships. Due to our fleeting nature, all we had were two level 4 and one level 3 scientists leading to 600 and 960 days extra research times.
The wait was agonizing and all propaganda and diplomatic channels were silenced.
When level-3 horse science officer Harry Trotter finally finished his assigned anomaly, the whole collective awaited the final 180 days countdown. Once news broke that the CEC had pulled ahead and crossed the finish line first, cyber horse herds across the empire erupted into spontaneous joy stampedes. Cybrony parties lasted throughout the night. The CEC now has access to the prime herding space of the Cybrex Alpha ring world once we research the required tech.
Let us rejoice in this equestrian victory of science! :D #ScientiaVult #ForScience

Diplomatic news:
  • Research agreements were struck with both our friendly neighbours, the USSR, and with Comrade Crab (https://twitter.com/ComradeCrab) from the Cooperative Commune of Crustacean Planets (CCCP)
  • Due to a Rogue AI, the research agreement with the Cupitor Technocracy was not extended
  • Policy of neutrality was continued - invitations of the UNG were politely declined
  • As a sign of peace and cooperation to the 5th Interstellar, the stratification of Cybrony workers and specialists was eliminated. #Peace :)

Economic News:
  • Economic ranking has been improved significantly
  • Population of over 150 reached - focus on growth continues
  • Food policy was switched to enjoy additional growth of Cybronies
  • The focus on mineral production has led to a building boom on all planets
  • Energy production now stable and positive, reserves high
  • Alloy production was expanded to meet the need for additional defenses against the Shrimp Fanatics
  • 4 additional planets settled
  • "We settle em all" policy adapted - many more colonies with low habitability to come
  • Space secured towards Cybrex Alpha (Cybrex Horse Home)

Military News:
  • Fleet capacity expanded by 50% and maxed out
  • Cavalry Bands got new offensive and defensive technology upgrades
  • Border fort against the Shrimp fanatics fully upgraded - We are ready

Science News:
  • Despite careful management of research options, Droid technology is still MIA.
  • Star Fortress tech to be finished soon
  • Second research planet dedicated, first planet continues to expand
  • New WORM technology is also still highly awaited

Our Charge Forward in Week #4:
  • Embrace the WORM <3
  • Continue economic and colonial expansion
  • Defensive stance against fanatical Shrimps
  • Push for Droid and Synth technologies
  • Engage in diplomacy with our science and robot friends / neighbours
  • #PeaceAndProsperity

Since the War in Heaven is the endgame crisis, you cannot have 2 at the same time (without mode, of course)

But, there is a rule in this dev clash, that spiritualist CAN invoke the end of the cycle. Imagine, a war between 2 awoken empire, with communist and capitalist in the middle.
What is the sole solution for spiritualist? To call the End.

That, sir, is what I would love to see.

Incorrect. The WIH is not an endgame, and can (and has) occured at the same time as the endgame. And you can guarantee someone is bringing The End for the memes.
