I'm just waiting for one of the Psion's to summon the end of the cycle on purpose, just for the memes. Also, I'm going to be sorely pxssed if the Crisis is the Contingency, because it's the only crisis I've gotten the in hundreds of hours of game-play I've done since 1.8 (Yes my luck is so terrible I've gotten only 1 crisis over 40 times since 1.8), and if I can't get a shot at the other 2, I want to at least see someone else get it. Lastly, if the socialists don't form a Federation called the Galactic Comintern/GalCom, I'm unsubbing from the YT channel.
Summoning it would technically be the optimal strategy, since it tends to leave the Empire that summoned it (or the pesky remains of it) for the last.
Wonder how likely it is. There are 6 Spiritualists who will quickly draw Psionic Theory, 7 Materialists who almost certainly never will, 6 Hive Minds who cannot. This leaves 4 players who could get lucky, but probably won't draw it before picking another type of Ascension (unless specifically waiting for it to show up before ascending).
The possibility to get the End of the Cycle is a bit less than 2%. I doubt anyone would skip taking Whispers of the Void or Instrument of Desire. Composer of Strands is a bit underwhelming late game and the Eater of the Worlds does pretty annoying stuff, but after skipping them it may take forever for another Covenant to show up.
So assuming every Spiritualist goes Psionic and they take the the first Covenant that appears, we get to play for a roughly 2% chance six times... that gives a probability of 11%, if I calculated it correctly. So it
might happen? And we get to see the entire Galaxy burn? Of course nobody would pass up an opportunity for 50 years of domination.
