Crash after hitting play on launcher:

Please explain your issue is in as much detail as possible.
Game crashes to desktop after hitting play on the launcher and after the Stellaris launch screen comes up. This is the Steam version. Once you hit play from steam the Paradox launcher pops up and you hit play. When this started I made a collection of mods then unsubbed from them all and checked the Documents folder to to make sure it was clear of workshop mods.
On suggestion that I change the game from the launcher settings to borderless windowed or windowed and try.. still crashes to desktop. One note: Windowed mode came up a white screen after the Stellaris logo/launch screen but still crashed to desktop. I have the above marked DLC plus some not mentioned above: mainly content additions and the Humanoids and Necroids.
I have verified game files on Steam and uninstalled/reinstalled the game to no avail. The drive I have this installed is a secondary drive D:/ while Steam is installed on my C drive. Steam has been restarted several times during this process. No change.
Never get to any save game or the main screen so including the log files that have something on them.. The Dumps folder is empty. In the logs folder, only these files have anything in them: game.log, and system.log
Last played Stellaris on 11/21/2022. Game has updated since and I tried to load it 1-7-2023 and this was when I noticed the problem. Reported it today.
