Please explain your issue is in as much detail as possible.
After the release of update 2.2.6, a bug with assimilation appeared. The settlements cease to be assimilated. for 10 years no settlement was assimilated.
This problem is observed with cyborg, the materialists who took the bonus for the desire "Flesh is weak", with "synthetic evolution". And the machine mind. The settlements simply hang with the icon "Assimilate."
Meets on pure version 2.2.6

Steps to reproduce the issue.
Receipt of this bug.
Take the materialist. Bonus for striving - "Flesh is weak." Then "Synthetic Evolution". Sometimes there are 2-3 pops not past the 2nd articulation.
An alternative method is to have a “Synthetic Evolution”. Capture the neighboring empire and supply them with a standard of living — assimilation. You can also see this bug if you have the above-stated aspirations to buy slaves.

Also encountered this bug, also went path of "Flesh is Weak" and "Synthetic Evolution." Biological pops would just stay jobless and in a state of perpetual assimilation for years. Only "solution" was to dump all the pops off on a planet and give them to the AI.

I experience the same. I have a synth ascended mega corp empire and cannot assimilate bio pops. They simply stay the unemployed assimilation state forever. Have about 1000 organic pops I want to assimilate.
It is blocking me from playing my Ironman game until fixed. (I always play Ironman).
Think there is a manual workaround is you are playing non ironman.

darkrenown (one of the staff) acknowledged it in the 2.2.6 release changelog thread.
