Hi, thanks for the report. Just to confirm, you were not in a federation with the other empire?

To provide more information, this has been a problem from at least 2.7.2 (and probably earlier, like 2.7 itself) and should manifest in ALL vanilla saves - so it doesn't matter what save someone provides to you, insofar that it will always manifest if a joint war invitation is made at any point.

This happens whenever an empire invites to join a war and the player does not respond to their prompt, allowing it to "auto-decline" - at least, that's according to the game's tooltip.

Except, be it intended or a glitch [probably a glitch], it hasn't worked that way (at all) for months now.

For join war requests aren't auto-declined anymore for failing to respond to them.

They're auto-accepted instead.

So to fix this, you presumably just need to take a look at the code for the auto-decline procedure/function. Presumably someone accidentally reversed a define or a programming logic if true or if not check.

If you can make it TRULY auto-decline when you ignore it instead of auto-accepting, you'd fix a bug that's been in the base-game + DLCs [vanilla, NO MODS at all] for months now. And that would be great.
