Stellaris - 2.8.1 dfce - Crash when trying to select ships in the empire creator

Please explain your issue is in as much detail as possible.
When trying to view valid ship types in the empire creator, the game crashes to desktop. No log is generated, it crashes straight to desktop.

Steps to reproduce the issue.
1. Go to the empire creator/edit an existing empire
2. Click on ships

Note: DX11 flag is enabled.

Hi,

Does the crash occur with DX11 disabled? If so, can you attempt a complete clean reinstall of the game and see if this fixes the issue? (uninstall it normally, then delete the Stellaris install directory, \Steam\steamapps\common\Stellaris\ and user information \Documents\Paradox Interactive\Stellaris after backing up any saves you may want to keep)
