I just bought Warlock 2: the Exiled this week (~October 29th, 2014). I've played the game for 2 hours. Both times, after about an hour the game completely freezes my computer. I've moving the mouse and then I just hear a constant tone through my speakers but the computer is completely locked up.

This started happening around turn 14. At that point I had saved the game locally <5 times.

Steam is installed here: C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam
Warlock2: the Exiled is installed here: E:\steam2\steamapps\common\Warlock 2

I successfully verified the integrity of the game's Steam game cache.
Steam->Local Files tab->Current content BuildID: 416107
Steam->Updates tab->Steam cloud->Enable Steam cloud synchronization for <game> is checked
Steam->Updates tab->Steam cloud->55.95MB stored /897.72MB available

I'm attaching the following ZIP files:
1. The save game around where the problem started happening...
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\userdata\<profile>\205990\remote\saves
2. msinfo32 export from my system.
3. dxdiag export

At a high-level my setup is:
Windows 8.1 update 64-bit
Video card: EVGA Nvidia GTX560Ti DS
Nvidia driver version: GeForce 340.52
Motherboard EVGA nForce 790i Ultra SLI 132-CK-NF79
6GB RAM
C: Mushkin 512GB Solid State SATA
E: Western Digital SATA
Resolution 1920x1080, all settings high, non-windowed mode. I've tried with and without vsync.
Launching through steam with all defaults (cloud sync is enabled by default).

Any tips on how I can avoid this system Warlock 2: the Exiled freeze, lock up, hang, etc.?

I see dxdiag hates your sound driver ctaud2k.sys so you might look for a newer one.

That aside it looks like an overheating or hardware fault to me, that thing with the hardware freeze and the tone is typical. Please report the temperatures of your CPU and video (GPU)
1/ before starting the game up and
2/ after say 20 minutes' play. If your PC's vendor has given you no way of reading temperatures, install
