Steam summer sale: deciding on final DLC purcase.

After many years of torturing Europa Universalis 3 I decided to take a look at some other titles from Paradox. Summer sale gave me a chance to pick up Crusader Kings 2 with handful DLC: Sword of Islam, Legacy of Rome, The Old Gods, Rajas of India and Charli... Chargla... Chargl... Charly. Loving this game so far and decided to purchase another DLC, but I'm one of those people who withdraw most of their money from bank accounts. After Steam summer sale carnage I'm left with measly 3.50 Euro. This means only one content DLC or few portrait packs. So I was wondering what would be the most bang for the buck: Way of Life, Sons of Abraham, The Republic or just few portrait packs?

Way of life probably adds the most to the game out of those

I'd actually go for Sons of Abraham over Way of Life. WoL has a major effect on the way the game goes and replaces large numbers of flavour events. If you start using it too early you may never experience such joys as nailing messengers hats to their heads to get the Impaler trait, or all of the various things that can happen to raise your stats to 8. WoL doesn't actually add much content, just different (and more controlled) ways to gain lifestyle traits and replacement events related to that. There used to be some really bad issues with seduction focus, but those have finally been sorted (took around a year of fixes). However, I should mention that you can easily disable WoL if you want the old events and mechanics back.

SoA adds playable Judaism and a bunch of stuff to all the Abrahamic religions, including the College of Cardinals, Catholic pilgrimages and making courtiers monks and nuns. Plus the infamous devil child event chain, which is fun to play at least once.

Personally I'd not recommend the Republic over the other two. Running a Republic is VERY different to anything else, to the extent that it's almost another game. But you may like it - opinion varies. Be aware that Republican portrait clothes suddenly become 15th C Italian, even if you've just converted a 9th C Mande tribal kingdom. That was jarring for me.
