Steam stuck in 2.0.4 on my Mac!!!

So I have been playing 2.0.4 for quite a while as there was a problem with the Launcher in Mac. Worked fine for me using a workaround using the file in the library rather than the Steam launcher-been writing an AAR too which has been well received...until a couple of nights ago when I decided to be a bit clever and order some new DLC that I intended to play once I had finished my Scotland game

Sadly now none of the DLC that I bought (specifically The Old Gods and Legacy of Rome as well as Celtic face packs) will now load-the game does but none of the DLC...I have seen some very techie workarounds but my mind goes blank when I see 'please open terminal' to use. Can anyone talk me through this as I will be heartbroken if I lose this excellent game

For some reason when I try and launch the game from Steam I am still getting the 'missing executable' message. Shouldn't that be fixed by now? Also it says that I am still stuck in 2.0.4 and despite the fact that I have it to update it refuses to use 2.1.6 (which it does if I try and play from Windows in Bootcamp)

Can anyone help? Ideally I would like to rescue the old save games that I was playing in 2.0.4 as I was writing a long AAR based around them-if not it would just be nice to play the game

It's not clear to me if you are trying to stay with 2.0.4 or move to 2.1.6?

There will be no more fixes for 2.0.4, I'm sorry, so we're stuck with that message and the workaround that is in the sticky thread above.

Moving to 2.1.6 should just require opting out of the 2.0.4 beta.

Well 2.0.4 wouldn't work for me after I downloaded the new DLCs and when I went to the workaround it wouldn't load the DLCs-I am simply not techie enough to understand the more complicated techy workaround that is detailed above (I have no idea what terminal is for instance...)

To that end I just uninstalled and reinstalled the game and it has reinstalled 2.1.6, launcher and DLCs all fine but obviously I have lost the rather epic Scotland game that I was playing. From what you say there is simply no way to get it back so I guess I will just have to suck it up :angry:

You can certainly go back to 2.0.4 . But on Mac there are issues, it is true. if you can't deal with the nature of the workarounds that our other fans came up with in that thread, then all I can suggest is running on 2.0.4 on a PC, if you can get access to one or run it up in Bootcamp on your Mac.

I fired up the game in Bootcamp fine but the windows version (it auto updated to 2.1.6) is only recognising the save games I was playing on it in the very 1st instance. How would I port the 2.0.4 save games to the Windows version?

Are these games in the cloud? if so clicking on the display incompatible games box ought to show them.

Otherwise just copy the save file with a USB key or via Dropbox between the Mac and PC save folders.

Thanks so much for your help Andrew but I think I'm going to leave this. I played 400 years of an excellent game and now think it's time to turn to pastures new i.e. 2.1.6 and the new games. I'm trusting Charlemagne upgrade will be save game compatible as I'm thinking of launching a ROI game as Aquitaine?

To be honest I haven't been reading the dev diaries so I don't know. The usual line is that compatibility is a goal, but cannot be guaranteed 100%.
