I actually don't get why the OP gets this much "disagrees" on his opening post. I mean, I love the game and have spent more than thousand hours on it and I can recommend it to everyone. Yet, I don't think we should ignore the points he brings up. To the perspective of new players, there is a huge threshold to enter. It takes ages to get a feel for the game and if you do want the full experience of the game, you better commit a lot of money (even on sale) for all DLC.
I think it would help more as community to keep suggesting constructive means to make this game more accessible to new people. And perhaps find new suggestions for the DLC policy in case it hasn't been overdone already.
As much as some people do not care about "the majority of steam reviews", it will matter to a producer as there are still plenty of people out there that do care about steam reviews. I admit that if I see a game I don't know at all on the store, I at least take a glance at some of the reviews to see if a game would suit me or not. Let's not dismiss something automatically because we do not value it.
