So i want to keep playing my 1.11 game, and i also want to play sons of abraham, can i use steam to install crusader kings multiple times, with one being a 1.11 install and the other being the one i keep updated?

You can copy the ck2 folder from steam apps over to some place else and use the exe there, you'll have two separate copies that way.
my dlc has stopped working ever since i tried to update to 1.2 and use SOA, I'm at the point where i just want my money back and my old copy of CK2 working again.
If you wanted to use 1.111 then that's what you should have said. Go to steam library, right click on ck2, go to properties, then betas and opt in to the 1.111 beta.
so it turns out that paradox has changed the way mods are handled, they no longer go in the game directory.
