What does it acually matter to the individual whether the game gets on Steam one week before release instead of three?

Oh please, could you guys stop posting EVERY SINGLE DAY that CKII isn't up for pre-order on steam ? It's only two more weeks, it will be up for pre-order before the actual release. Patience is a virtue.
So what, if its there a day before it wont matter either, people getting excited here wont miss it anyway checking 24/7. :-D
My closest guess that at least, it would be there by the 31st when they'll release a CK2 demo (which I hear is a week before the official release).

I too would love an answer, but this has been debated to death in the existing steam pre-order thread.
The official answer so far can be summarized as: "Hopefully soon, definitely before release"
Paradox seems to have a love-hate relationship with Steam, and apparently they aren't able to clear things up between them.

I own all my games on Steam and I'd love to order on Steam, but I understand that a boxed version can be registered to Steam and will show up as a Steam game forever after?
If so, I'd just as soon order from Amazon and add it to my library.

You will not get the two free dlc's if you don't pre-order from Steam or Gamersgate.
I know, all I care about is the ability to have the game in my Steam library for eternity and toss the box/dvd out. Amazon pre-order is cheaper than GG/Steam, even if you include the DLC price in the equation.
It pretty physically HAS to be up there by release date- after all, all non-GG copies are Steamworks. In the off-chance they don't manage to get it up, it will not just cost us prospective pre-orderers, it will keep every single retail copy from being able to work.
Not saying that's going to happen- I'm saying, Paradox will keep it FROM happening, and by benefit, we will get pre-order when they have it up.

I would expect it to be on pre-order next week. I have a good feeling it to be monday or tuesday. Still I think this is totally Steam's doing. Either they are going to add some TF2 items on the pre-order or they have some more major stuff going on.
Yes, the boxed versions are Steam games that should become part of your Steam library upon installation. I believe it is similar to the boxed version of, for example, Skyrim, which I bought since it had a physical map, and now it is on Steam and I never need the discs again.
I don't doubt the Steam pre-order will be up, but if it goes anything like Sengoku it will be up feb 6th at the earliest. Now if one considers the options:
If we pre-order from Steam.
-We get the DLC.
-It will pre-load and unlock at 9am PST on feb 7.
If one pre-orders on Amazon or gets another boxed copy.
-The game will ship feb6, you'll have it 7-8.
-The game registers on Steam, the box and dvd can presumably be tossed.
-The game is effectively half-price, but comes without the DLC
Pre-ordering on Amazon is cheaper, but you might have the game a day late, and you miss out on dlc. Another benefit though is that you can stop worrying about reloading the Steam store every 10 seconds for the pre-order.

According to Amazon UK at least, it releases on the 2nd of February and Amazon standard deliveries usually take between 3 and 5 days, so maybe that's how they're ensuring that preorders arrive on time. It's also only £22.47 at the moment, so even with the DLC bought separately off STEAM, it'll work out cheaper I assume.
