And no, there won't be a non-steam version.. We had a huge forum-demand for a non-steam version of CK2, and it had an even less percent of the market than we had expected.
That made me a sad panda =(

I'm still going to hold onto hope they change their minds.
Ubisoft actually got their shit together, the next Sim City on the other hand ^^,I cannot believe some people are willing to miss EU4 because of Steam. Would it be one of these "you must be online for singleplayer" like Ubisoft I would understand, but because of Steam?!

I'm just curious to see how long the holdouts will last. I tend to hold grand strategy gamers to a higher standard than L4D players.

Yeah.
Don't worry, instead of accepting the result of their anti-Steam principles and going without it, they can just steal it, and that's ok because being a fan in the past makes stealing our work fair game if we do anything you disagree with!
(and no, obviously not every person who dislikes steam will turn pirate, but there have been several posts like KyeSteltek's recently.)
Frankly, you don't want customers who have an irrational fear/hate of Steam. They cause trouble.
I will keep this short.
I have been your client & supporter for over a decade, and... you've just lost me.
There is an alternative to steam-only games, and I'm deeply saddened that I will have to chose that path for eu4.
Good bye.

I find your post extremely insulting. I am a man of principle and I never pirate games.
Being forced to use Steam in order to play EU4 was bad enough without this crap talk.
Just another nail in the coffin.
