And for the record.. we don't do DRM on our titles if we can avoid it. There is no reason to turn it on at steam.

Not quite true. EU2 had some sort of DRM up until 1.07 or somesuch IIRC. They actually patched out the DRM and made me happy

Hmmm? I don't quite recall this... Maybe it was on some distribution version, I remember there were different distributors of the game then back in the stone age.

And I hope that Paradox can always avoid using DRM (and because most of DRMs are really useless against pirates, making troubles only for honest users)

I don't have a problem with Steam but if there are two versions of a game I usually go for the non-Steam version (at least as long as it doesn't have nasty DRM).

It would break my heart if PI became a Steam-only developer. I buy my PI games exclusively on GG and I'd like to keep doing that.

I will just add my voice to the general anti-Steam chorus because I do remember that CKII was planned to be Steam-only before there was a general chorus for a Gamersgate version. :huh:
ANYTHING but physical copies on Amazon (WHEN AVAILABLE) are DRM! I live in the country and only get 7GB per month. I use most of that on news and forums such as this. Downloading a game is NOT an option for me. Digital is great unless you're like ME. Greater access to PHYSICAL copies would be very much desired. Gamers Gate and Steam could disappear and I wouldn't notice.
I wouldnt attribute it too much to that before all the QQ johan had said they had to overcome technical difficulties to do a GG version

I am also looking forward to a GG version.
I've bought all my Paradox stuff through GG, but I also use Steam for other things and I've never had a problem with it. I'm not saying there are none, so don't bite my head off, but can someone actually say what they are? No one in this thread has given reasonable explanations. Although reading the comment about 'not owning games' has given me pause, that'd be the easiest way to sway me, but in terms of performance and things it prohibits you from doing, where are the problems?
I hope there will be physical copies of EUIV. I would have never bought EUIII Chronicles if it wasn't in a physical copy in the store.

Evil is a subjective view :O As long as it's not steam only, I'll be immensively happy. (I just prefer having my Pdox games on GG). I feel with the people who can't get it because of digital troubles, but it seems to me that everything is turning digital anyway..
