What is with the hate for steam, you don't have an internet connection on your gaming computer in 2012?

All eggs in one basket and it is not yours to hold anymore. Someone else (Steam) holds it. If they drop the basket you're screwed. If they want to withhold the eggs in the basket from you you're screwed.

This is one of the bizarre arguments that always appears in threads like this: If <incredibly unlikely event> happens then you lose all your games, so never use Steam! No other digital store could ever shut down, of course, and physical media can never get scratched or lost...Steam, the biggest and most successful gaming market is surely on the verge of shutting down (or just banning everyone for kicks!).

Steam is a great place to buy games, the lengths some people will go to to convince themselves it's somehow a huge risk to use it is just amazing.

If this game is steam only, i definetly not gonna buy it. I hope that there will be other alternatives other than, that piece of s*** adware called steam....

Another classic example. Adverts =! Adware. I don't think you know what Adware is. Steam has adverts, yes. So does TV and radio, are they adware too? Are walls adware when people put posters on them? Are you adware since you mention two newspapers in your sig?

If you don't want ads in steam it is literally one checkbox to uncheck in settings ->interface.

Regardless of everybody's beef with Steam or otherwise, the thing is that if you buy a Paradox game off of Steam, you can download the game, completely remove Steam and play it on any machine without so much as a passing thought about Steam. You could replicate the files onto punch cards and play them that way if you are so inclined.

Yeah, klick this, klick that. Make sure you are offline with internetconnection, becouse if you forgot than you cannot play your game entire day or in worst case week. Fix here, fix there, its allways your foult when that piece of s**** malware doesnt work. :laugh:

No PDS game needs to be online or even to have steam running to play once they are installed, so that complaint is nonsensical.

No idea what game you had problems with wanting to go online, but since none of ours do it's irrelevant anyway.
