Simple Solution to the Steam/Warband serial keys issue:
Today I bought M&B Warband on Steam for a little over 6 euros. A Bargain, yes, and I snapped it up immediately. Since I had spent a lot of money over the holidays buying Paradox games, and had only 6.83 euros left to spend, I think I did very well.
Unfortunately now my 4x4 serial key provided by Steam doesn't allow me to register the game on Paradox and get another little icon beside my avatar!
So, where do we go from here? Well the solution is very simple. But first of all, where does the actual problem lie?
I only realised today, that Taleworlds actually made the game, and only then when I started up the game and their logo was there. I thought Paradox had made the game. I contacted Taleworlds, and they told me to contact Paradox.
From other posts on the Warband forum, others have contacted Steam about the issue, and Steam tell them to contact Paradox also. Which is fair enough, as the game works and so their obligations have been fulfilled.
Others have mentioned in the Warband forum, that Gamersgate also provides a 4x4 serial key.
So that leaves Paradox, who I presume are publishers of the game for TaleWorlds? Possibly because Paradox have a huge fanbase?
Paradox have a link to buy the game on Steam, so they are encouraging Paradox fans to go to Steam to buy the game, or any Paradox game for that matter.
The Paradox register page shows a 6x4 serial key function.
Lots of people have this same issue as me.
It is noted that some Paradox staff have been contacting Steam/Talesworlds etc to solve the issue.
But wouldn't simple solution be for Paradox to change the 6x4 serial key on the registration screen to a 4x4 one, and even then people with a 5x5 key would still be able to register the game, as the extra characters wouldn't be required.
Wouldn't this be the simplest solution to the problem, and make all the Paradox fans happy again?
