Hi

Please also see my thread https://forum.paradoxplaza.com/forum/index.php?threads/why-is-my-game-still-version-1-0-5.848268/

Everytime I start up my game, I find it is in version 1.0.5

I then go to steam, click the files integrity link for a couple of times, and after a while, CSL start up as version 1.0.6b

However, the next time I start up my machine, and run the game, Steam downloads "the newest version" of the game, and when the game starts, it's 1.0.5 again.

Please have a look at it. (I'm running it in Windows 8)

Hi C.O.

Please have a look into this. It's really annoying to have to manually upgrade from 1.0.5 to 1.0.6b everytime I start my computer. I have the deluxe version, I'm not sure if that has something to do with it. My guess is that steam thinks the latest deluxe version is still 1.0.5

PLEEEASE, could someone help me with this. Steam constantly revert my game to 1.0.5. There must be a configuration setting somewhere which I can set to prevent it from doing this. Please please please help me with this.

I don't think there's anything CO or Paradox can do about this. No-one else is reporting it, something unique in your environment.

How are you manually upgrading it?

check your appmanifest in your steamapp folder
it contains stuff like

Hi Andrew.

I go to the Game properties in steam, click on the local files tab, and then click on "Verify Integrity of Game Cache." Steam downloads the newest version, and usually, I can then play it. But as soon as the new version is installed, Steam starts downloading the old version again, and once it's downloaded, and I restart the game, it's back to 1.0.5.

I wish I could prevent Steam from automatically updating the game - that would resolve the issue. But I don't have such an option in the Update tab.

Darn it. I was hoping this would fix it, but no. I'm back at 1.0.5 again! :'( It even changed my config file to say version 550233 again. There must be SOMETHING somewhere that causes steam to do this? I don't think the error lies with CO, I think something must be wrong with steam, but WHAT?

Here is some questions I have for Paradox, which might help me to resolve this issue

1) How does Paradox inform Steam which version to install on client machines? Is there a config file on the serverside? I would assume so. I would also assume that several versions are kept on the server.

2) If yes, are there different folders for the deluxe version? Is the delux version in the config file up to date?

3) Are there different config files for geographic areas? If yes - please check the file for South Africa

4) Is it possible to delete version 1.0.5 from the steam server? I do believe that it must be on the steam server, otherwise, how else can it be installing it on my machine?

These are a couple of shots in the dark, but I'm really desperate to resolve this issue. How is it possible that steam can be reverting games to an old version if there isn't a config setting somewhere telling it to do so?

You can run Steam in offline mode.

Perhaps you are getting your download from one particular Steam server that's not updated. Try changing your Steam download region to somewhere else, so it uses a different server as a source.

Failing that, we probably need to do a full clean Steam reinstall.

I think it's likely to be related to Steam, not CSL itself. Maybe you should dig in Steam Support for similar issues and fixes, or open a ticket with Steam.

I logged a support call, but I found a solution in the meantime:

I got version 1.0.7c on my machine, and made a backup of it. Then steam did its thing, and reverted it to 1.0.5. I then overwrote 1.0.5 with the files from my backup. My game hasn't reverted since, which is great.

However, my only concern is that I will not get further updates from steam. It's ok, the game runs smoothly as it is.
