Steam ironman cloud save corrupted? Areas and titles missing, "no character"

I have been playing through the game in ironman mode as Abyssinia, but when I was about to load up the cloud save I was met with this: http://imgur.com/NyIRZzr My Abyssinian empire title, amongst a lot of other titles, had disappeared and a lot of areas were greyed out, saying "no character". Also, if I click the save but then click Back when the map has finished loading the game crashes to desktop. I am not sure if this is relevant, but one foreboding sign I had even before all of this started was that my character was said to be leading troops in Aswan even though I was at peace. I also tried loading up an older local save from a different playthrough and there were also some missing areas there too. I have tried to delete the crusader kings 2 folders manually under steam and under my documents and reinstall the game, but it did not help. My current version of the game is 2.0.1 (XFMJ).Is there any help to had?

It does look like a bad save, yes. I suppose that's a vulnerability about the whole Ironman/cloud save model - if the save corrupts there's not a lot to be done about it, no backups.

What you could try is look in the local directory where cloud saves are stored before syncing up to Steam. With luck there's a recent save there. See the sticky "file locations" thread above for where that is exactly.

Thank you for your reply. I went to the folder 200510, but there's no Remote folder, only a file named remotecache.vdf.
