Steam installs Vae Victis and Rome Gold.

But when you choose *either* it actually runs Vae Victis NOT Rome Gold

Rome Gold is Vae Victis. It's just the base game plus the VV expansion bundled into a single release.

It added two items to my Steam Library - but they both are the same thing - which doesn't seem like it is correct behavior.

I wanted to actually play Rome without the Vae Victis update. Ironically I have the old Rome CD, but the game is no longer playable and it was suggested in this forum that I could play Rome this way.

Buying from Steam gave me two games at once - one titled "Gold Edition" and one titled "Vae Victis".

So which one do I use? Gold Edition already includes Vae Victis inside I presume...so what is the purpose of a separate "Vae Victis"?
