[Steam] DLC Listed as Inactive

I recently bought the song pack "Songs of Byzantium" since it was only .50 on Steam. Unfortunately, I can't get it to work at all. When I go to play the game, it appears in the list of available DLC and it has a check mark next to it. When I get to the main menu, however, it lists the content as inactive, despite the fact I also bought the EU IV converter at the same time, don't have the check mark next to it (but is available when I start up the game), and it's listed as active.

I did not modify the file in any way. I deleted it, and then re-downloaded it to be sure. Also, I tried doing what was suggested and run the game without the Steam-Community enabled in game. None of these seemed to work. How do I get this music pack to become active? Is there a code I need to enter on Steam? I don't have any code listed in my confirmation e-mail, and I can't seem to find any way to access a code for it if it exists on Steam. I've been tinkering with this for about a day now and I can't figure out what the problem is.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. I would very much like some new music in this game to help keep me from going nuts on those long gaming sessions.

No, there's no code you need to enter anywhere, it should just work.

Have you since exited and restarted Steam, or even your whole PC? Is Steam running when you run the game, in online mode?

I've exited and restarted Steam as well as my PC, and I've tried running the game in Online mode from the Steam interface, as well as from the desktop launcher. Unfortunately it's still listed as inactive every time I start the game up. The only other DLC I have is LoR, Old Gods, and the Character Creator and all of them work and are marked as active.

OK, that's dlc0017.zip . On my system that file is 14,903,565 bytes and dlc017.dlc is 171 bytes. You should be able to read the latter with any text editor, and open the former and play the music file that's inside it outside the game - does that work?

Yes, both the package and the .dlc are the exact size that you specified and I was able to play each of the songs contained within.

Alright, try this: go to Documents/CK2 and delete or rename dlc_signature . Now run the game up and it should recreate it, now see if the problem's still there.

I deleted the file, and it was successfully re-created, but the DLC is still listed as inactive and still will not play.

Gawd. OK then, how about if you rename or delete those two dlc017.* files, then do a Steam Verify?

If that still fails, try a full clean re-install:

- move any valued save games elsewhere
- "delete local files" in Steam
- manually delete all files left under Steam/CK2 AND Documents/CK2
- re-install game in Steam, run a verify when done.
