Wow. I feel like I've been screwed with this Steam only attitude. No Beta for GG purchasers? No more buying from GG, I guess.
I don't use Gamersgate, but it doesn't sound like it has a Beta thing like Steam does, so you're not 'getting screwed' by Paradox, you're getting screwed by Gamersgate for not having a beta feature.
why only on steam? I always buy games in GG to support direcly Paradox, even if I would prefere to have them on steam...

Paradox weren't going to publish on GG. Then, under considerable pressure from some on the forum they changed their minds. My understanding is that they didn't sell anywhere near as much on GG as the amount of pressure led them to believe, and have made less money from it than if they'd just published on steam.... and won't do a GG version for future games. So, the GG pressure has cost Paradox money, and put GG out of the picture for good.
Oly the beta is for steam. The real patch is for gamersgate too.
bit disapointed with the lack of a GG beta, guess have to switch to steam for EUIV. by the way any news on the kingdom issue? or was it intentional that new realms start of as free investure and gavalkind?

EUIV is eitherway Steam only, because of the multiplayer changes. (you'll get a steam key if you buy/preorder it on GG)
You aren't supporting Paradox more by buying stuff on GG instead of on Steam. GamersGate and Paradox have been separate for quite some time now.
The beta thing was announced way back however. That only steam would get beta patches.
Is the fact that the Zoroastrians nominally have a "Great Holy War" CB, but don't have the code to actually use it in cb_types.txt deliberate or a mistake?
It has already been announced there won't be any other version than Steam for EUIV and the Beta version being limited to Steam has been discussed pre-release as well.
As long as the last patch ever for CK2 won't be a beta i can live with this decision.
I really don't understand it though.
I mean, even a modder with WinMerge could easily isolate the changed files and make an .exe out of it. So I'm sure Paradox could easily make a GG beta patch too.
