First off, omg converter! Second, and actual question, I have a gamersgate version of CK2 with all the dlcs, while I pre-ordered EU4 from steam... Will the converter still work, or will my fears become a reality?:blink:

I am going on a limb here and guess it will probably scan for your CK2 savegames - and if your CK2 happens to be in a different folder, you will be able to move the savegames and then import them.

If you fear incompatibility due to mixing GG and Steam I don't think that's an issue since the savegames ought to be identical between the two versions.
I also want to know this. The converter is a mod for CK2, but if you preorder EU4 on Steam will you need a Steam version of CK2 to run the converter? I would use the free copy on a Steam CK2, but then I wouldn't have the DLC I bought on Gamersgate.
Johan said somewhere in there that Gamersgate should distribute it's own version of the converter DLC. So i think you all are fine.

You will get Steam CK2. So, even if you have GG CK2, you can open your save in Steam's CK2 (doesn't matter if you don't have steam DLCs, you aren't going to play it...) and convert it, then load it into EU4.

hmm, what you don't load the save? so it converts it into a mod, but than how do you continue your iron-man campaign from CKII through EUIV timeframe. If I'm playing a conversion, I'm still playing 'honest', so I would be expecting the achievements to be added naturally, with mods it is supposed to be turned off, that would mean it's not really a 'natural' conversion, just a bit of saving on manual copy paste from a CK save to a EU save file?
You won't get achievements from converted games, even if you play in Ironman mode. It will count as a mod -> no achievements.
That's a good way of looking at it, actually. Useful seeing as how I doubt anyone I know would be interested in a free copy of CK2.

Why not? The game won't let you start a 867 game, but I don't think it won't let you load a savegame... Just pick a christian nation during load, it doesn't matter, as you don't even have to start the game.
Unless of course the game will somehow detect that the savegame is using dlcs you don't have and won't let you start...
