You could just copy the game away from steam folder and it's non-DRM version too, You wouldn't even need to launch it through steam (Unless You mean about downloading the game).

You really should make it possible to transfer the GG version + DLC to Steam because this is pissing me off! At least I got the base game on steam now with EU IV but I spent quite a lot of money buying all the DLC on GG since I wasn't really aware of your focus shifting to Steam and rebuying everything on Steam is not really feasible esp after this slap in the face.
Thank you, didn't have time to read through every page. Not a optimal solution but at least it means I can buy the future DLC on steam only and then perhaps at some point get the ones I have on GG in a hopefully 90% sale or something.
Slap in the face? It's just cloud saves and Steam achievements. It's not like they are releasing a major DLC as Steam-only.

Not possible.
There goes that feature which tbh is not related to steam at all except that's just how they've decided to do it.
Paradox's implementation of ironman is centered around validating achievements. The option to not savescum has been available in CK2 since version 1.
I thought so... which makes it too annoying for me to choose that option...
ah ye forgot about the DLC patches.... that basically means you'll have to have a dual install :angry:
They should just let GG distribute Steam keys for everything and be done with this topic... -_-
It's just copying DLC files. Whats so bad about that ?..or do you mean having a GG CK2 and a Steam CK2 folder aside ? Shouldn't be an issue nowadays regarding harddisk space.
Then the GG user who doesn't care about Steam achievements can just hand out the Steam keys to a friend.
When the DLC get updated (like it happened with the facepacks lately) you can't update them ingame with the steam version (unless i'm wrong here) if you copied them over from GG version. So for that case you'd still need to keep the GG version installed = dual install.

So they should just find a solution for this whole GG/Steam thing. As i said earlier, they should pick a side and either "convert" us all to Steam and be done with the GG version OR they should continue both versions and stop to handle them differently. I didn't buy GG because i want to annoy anyone, i bought it because i always bought there and i didn't know my version wasn't the "cool" one... It's not my fault they chose to make a GG version. But they did. And so they should finally decide what to do, and -if necessary- do something, instead of again and again tell me how annoyed they are that my version even exists...
EDIT: Plus, if they went for "full-Steam" they could even implement steam multiplayer!

WHAT ??! I definitely don't want to switch to Steam currently and can enjoy the game nevertheless. Don't let me suffer because you showed no foresight. Again they...*sigh* i give up. (edit: i didn't )
Regarding the harddisk space, if you got an SSD and another SATA or IDE, just copy the GG variant or better both to the non-SSD and create a userdir.txt file.
If copying DLC files is annoying to you, then you are spoiled big time.
edit: Thinking about it, if GG users are really rather close to 2 percent user base, well then it indeed shouldn't be too expensive to offer GG users a CK2 copy on Steam.
Something like a "Welcome on Steam with Paradox" gift, rather than an excuse or whatnot for this situation. I know, i know.....just an idea on my part. Appeasement politics.

well, Steam means having a dual install anyway if you don't want to get bothered by autoupdate (and numerous crying threads asking to downgrade to a lower patch).
Don't get me wrong, i do enjoy my game and i'm perfectly happy with my GG version. I just can't stand the bad attitude and the (lack of) support/features/whatever the GG version gets. Like i said, they should decide if they want to handle them both equal OR they should completely shift to steam. Right now, they're doing neither of those... and that's what i don't like.
EDIT: If they would stop to tell at every opportunity how they dislike having made the GG version, it would be a nice start if they want to keep both...
