Hi everyone,
I have a question whether I should stay in the HRE in my current Milan game or not (DW 5.1). I hardly see any benefit in it but maybe there is something I am overlooking. To give you some perspective I will just describe the current situation.
It is roughly the year 1550. I have formed Italy and the whole italian peninsula is under my control. Naples still owns Naples and abruzzi but they are vassalized and I could diplo-annex them anytime. I also own Greece some turkish lands and a stripe in northern africe from Alexandria to Judea.France has collapsed and scattered in little states I think the original France is left with Île de France and that is about it. Burgundy inherited Bohemia around 1450 but released them with 3 provinces later on. They only have 1 province in eastern europe left. But the are still the Emperor and field the 2nd largest army after me. The Ottomans collapsed on themselves very early and Byzantium shortly after. Austria grew awfully big by eating the Golden Horde and is atm my main contender for domination in Europe. Though this may have vanished since I finally went too war with them and took 4 of their 5 gold provinces. England (or Great Britain as it is called now) had their navy smashed when they tried to gain a foothold in my personal swimming lake the mediterranean sea.
Colonization of the Americas went smoothly is quite split between my and my BFF Castille. India I havent taken a look yet.
The problem is now shall I stay in the HRE or leave it? I currently hold 5 unlawful Provinces which really slows down my infamy burning after my war with Austria. I can't become Emperor because I am an administrative republic as my goal in the game is bringing Liberté Egalité and Fraternité (whatever it is in Italian) to the whole world. So is there anything left to gain by staying in the HRE? Because if not leaving it seems really the best Option.
